Tameside – Dale Street East

by | Jul 27, 2016

In 2012 Tameside Municipal Borough Council received government funding to build a multi-storey car park to serve the St.Petersfield regeneration scheme. The new car park would enable the construction of offices on existing surface parking areas while maintaining the number of spaces.

Parking Matters’ involvement started with a review of the business and strategic plans for parking in the development scheme. We concluded that to ensure financially viability the planned 400+ space car park should be replaced by a smaller car park combined with the introduction of on-street parking controls.

The Council validated our recommendations and Parking Matters was commissioned to produce a development brief and oversee the design of a cost effective, quality car park by Potter and Holmes Architects. We then assisted the Council with the procurement of a contractor to deliver the new facility.

Results
The car park was handed over on December 31, 2014 and is being operated with the ongoing support of Parking Matters. At only £11,000 per space, the Dale Street East car park represents excellent value for money with DALI controlled LED lighting and good quality finishes and equipment.

“Parking Matters has been involved at every stage of this project. Their ability to support us through the different stages, from business plan to design, construction and operation, was a key factor in the success of the scheme. The team are flexible, experienced and great to have on board – they come highly recommended!”
